Older cat (Sealpoint Himalayan)in renal failure. Is he in pain?

Vet has given fluids, forced feeding and meds to flush the kidneys. It's hard to give the saline solution because I have to insert a needle for that and he hates that. He's accepted the forced feedings though. He doesn't do much but lay around, won't eat or drink. Is he in pain?
