Can I press charges?

Yesterday my son's preschool teacher decided to break her contract and quit in the middle of the day. Not only that, but she just walked out and left 15 four year olds alone in the room. Thank goodness another teacher saw her leave and took over until the administrators were informed. The school is considering pressing charges. If they don't, can I? It seems to me that leaving a bunch of small children alone in a room is child endangerment or neglect or something. Needless to say, I"m mad, and so is everyone at the school. I think they're going to press charges. But if they don't, I want to know my options.
