What type of aircraft fly around 3 or 4am?

Do commercial airliners fly that late or early? I saw an aircraft last night very high up. I did not think aircraft flew that late. It was going east over the Chesapeake Bay so maybe an international flight? Going to Dover AFB? Just curious.
