Can I use all my aid in one semester?

I have a little financial aid knowledge, but wanted to know if I start a semester school in Jan (Spring term), and my loan limit is 12500/school year, will they let me take out up to the COA in my student loans during that one semester? Or is my loan limit each semester 6250, regarless? Will my loan period be from Jan - May (when cles end)?
