Should it be illegal for an elected public official to GIVE a FRIEND a high-paying position for which they are?

It shouldn't be illegal, because sometimes your friend might be the best-qualified person. But voters should take a look at who is getting appointed, decide if they are really the best-qualified persons, and approach the candidate likewise. Palin is clearly giving unqualified friends cushy jobs that they don't know how to handle. We, the voters, should respond appropriately.
