Higher English Help - What Exactly Is 'Long-Time' ?

First, uming that it is not used here in the normal sense; such as "long-time" employee, or such, I am going to speculate. In prison "time" is a reference to the term of an inmates sentence. Consequently in a prison context "long time" probably refers to someone's twenty-year, thirty -year, life, or such incarceration.
